I sometimes wonder who I am, and what are my needs, and the more I think about it, the more I find it difficult to ajust in this mechanical world... There are times that we don't feel complete with material things that are given to us in our lifes... Life is not only the money or the objects that we carrie in our days but also the search inside of us that noone can give us... but ourselfs. It is inside all of us... and for those of you that feel that way, I made an image that in some way translates that feeling where the precious things in life seem to be so far and hidden from society... and all around us there are only... "things"... "objects"... that will be here after we're dead! So.. what's the point to search them and to have them if the only thing that will remain is your soul?
Think about it...

Everything we own in life doesn’t really matter at all. For the objects are exactly the inanimate things that characterizes the mechanized society we live in. Not only people are getting more and more attached to the objects they crave, as they are loosing themselves as persons and individuals. I see the mechanical world we live as a frustration act. As more objects, “things”, we try to earn the more far we get from ourselves. We want the objects, the material things because we can’t reach inside us. For long I think people had lost contact with their souls, living inside with this huge big hole they try to fill up with everything that can fill the eye. Most of people try to have the best so they can be admire by other people... because they can’t admire themselves. In truth, they ended or stopped their search for themselves, their true selves. There is lesser and lesser space in this society for humanity itself. For the soul. If you have one, you will be crushed, it seems to say. For to have a soul is to have sensibilities. And sensibilities in our days, I think, they are seen as weaknesses instead of points of strength. So we hide and hide and hide... and grab what is around us, what we think it’s a solid and well based reality to be someone. But we are someone! We are so much more that what we possess. I have the belief death isn’t the end but just another beginning. And all that we carry from this reality to the next is our soul. No use of having a thousand objects that we craved, yearned, desired. They will stay behind. All we ever needed is ourselves. Find and seek what is inside of us. What makes us what we are.

An object doesn’t have a soul. But we seem so eager to give it one for we miss our own, lost in the fear, in the ignorance, in the darkness of not seeking, of not showing.

I look to this work, its description and I think about all this. Crossing that portal to the sunlight, to the blue sky, to the inside of myself. I don’t belong here for it isn’t my belief. I don’t belong anywhere but inside myself. And spreading my arms, my hands to touch my soul as I do everything trying to keep her alive and to keep her near. What is inside of me, have more importance that anything my body can touch and anything I can grab with my hands. For an object can be taken away from me. But what is inside of me, no.

I wish more persons would realize this...

I rather give a hand to someone and touch her feelings that have all the things I yearn in the mechanical field. For the feeling will remain... and the object will fade away of memory.

As for the work itself, you already know what I think about it. It’s a brutal, very well done work! I love the gate. You simply have to love all those details and the sight that is offered. As I told you, already, the only thing I would change was the game of light and shadows in the model itself for I think it doesn’t go along with the surrounding light. Yet, it is such a small detail and only an opinion of mine that just leave it be. Congratulations. It was a very long wait but so much worthwhile! For all the work and for the incredible concept you gave to all of it.

PS: Pois... eu sei... eu excedi-me no tamanho do comentário desta vez! E mesmo assim ficou tanto por dizer! :blushes:
